When we make space in our lives for yoga, it rewards us richly. My desire as a yoga teacher is to create a space in classes where you can experience the joy of yoga and the peace that flows from that.
In our fast-paced world, stillness is rare. Slowing down, savouring the moment, connecting breath and movement are practices beneficial both on and off the yoga mat
My focus is on embodied practice, deepening our understanding of our bodies, enjoying them, accepting ourselves as we are, regardless of our shape or what our bodies can do. In turn, we will develop strength.
My name is Jan and I am a yoga teacher based in Beverley, East Yorkshire. I am a retired nurse academic, with 40 years of practising, teaching, and researching nursing. I am mum to three adult children, a Christian, ultrarunner, musician, and dressmaker.
I didn't discover yoga until my early 50s, and each day I am grateful for what it teaches me. Yoga has helped me appreciate my body more, understand it better, and become a calmer, more peaceful person.
Now as a yoga teacher, my aim is to instill this sense of calm and peace in my classes. My approach is influenced by my Christian faith, so there's no chanting, chakras, or Sanskrit—just simple, slow, mindful yoga practice that celebrates and honours our bodies while helping us take care of them wisely.
If you're seeking a gentle approach to yoga that combines relaxation with strength, then you have come to the right place! Please do get in touch.

nothing could be more important than going slow. In an age of distraction, nothing can feel more luxurious than paying attention. In an age of constant movement, nothing is more urgent than sitting still.' (Pico Iyer)
